DA/ICU provides anesthesiological and intensive medical care of patients undergoing surgery and medical treatment in NICVD, Inc. Six operating theaters are used for general and local anesthesia for the whole spectrum of cardiac and vascular surgeries, including HTx. More than 1,700 general and 400 local anesthesias are administered annually.
Operating theaters are well equipped with modern anesthesiological devices and complete monitoring equipment. Anesthesiologists are also involved in performing conscious sedation during invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in other departments within the Institute. The medical staff of DA/ICU offers intensive and intermediate post-operative and intensive care of critically ill patients within NICVD, Inc. on its 28 beds. They carry out cardio-pulmo-cerebral resuscitation and comprehensive management of patients after resuscitation. All beds on DA/ICU are equipped with modern monitoring devices with modules for complete invasive and non-invasive monitoring of patients and with servoventilators. Almost 1,700 patients are admitted annually with average hospitalization time not exceeding 3. 5 days. DA/ICU is equipped with 4 devices for intra-aortic balloon contrapulsation, echocardiographic device with transesophageal probe, 3 dialysis machines, 2 high-frequency ventilators, device for artificial breathing with integrated system for nitric oxide application, diagnostic bronchoscope, transcranial Doppler, 2 heating systems, linear dose machines and infusion pumps.
The medical staff consists of: 12 anesthesiologists, 1 cardiologist and 72 nurses. All the team participate in many multi-center clinical trials and is involved in scientific activities and clinical research supported by The Ministry of Healthcare.
