DCS provides sterile medical equipment, medical aids, technical devices and equipment in conception of sterilization and other decontamination specialization.

Sterilization and disinfection are basic ways to eliminate microorganisms. Both methods are focused on eradication of the microorganisms on instruments that are a possible transporting medium of infection into the human body. Sterilization and disinfection of medical equipment is performed by skilled staff in appropriate rooms, using suitable technology. All these activities are carried out in a specific department that was created for this purpose. The Department provides the whole spectrum of sterilization and decontamination specified in healthcare categorization for all wards and outpatient clinics of NICVD. It provides sterilization for other hospitals based on mutual contracts too. All these procedures are performed according to standards available for preparation of sterile material.

DCS is organizing professional workshops for medical staff working in the field of sterilization, disinfection and its management and clarification.
