DEC as the tertiary center equipped with 11 monitored beds is providing acute cardiologic, and especially, acute coronary care in following groups of patients:
- patients referred by our outpatient clinic, inpatients who suffered acute coronary syndrome during their hospitalization within all NICVD departments, as well as other cardiac patients indicated for stay on monitored beds
- patients diagnosed as acute myocardial infarction and referred by DECs or Intensive care medicine units within or outside Bratislava for direct mechanical reperfusion therapy and patients, where standard conservative management or pharmacological reperfusion of acute MI failed
- patients who require highly specialized acute coronary care, not available in others centers in Slovakia and patients refused or not managed within others centers (for examples patient with infective endocarditis, valvular diseases and so on)
- patients who have undergone difficult diagnostic and interventional procedures on coronary vessels as well as after percutaneous valvular reconstructions
Patients with acute coronary syndromes, valvular diseases, and patients of Transplant Unit of NICVD are hemodynamically examined, tested and treated in the DEC. The DEC provides further education and training of fellows in cardiology as well as physicians, nurses and medical students during educational courses organized by Slovak Medical University.
