The outpatient clinic contains 11 out-patient departments. Individual patients are examined there according to the presence of specific cardiovascular symptoms. They focus on the diagnosis, severity stratification and radical, interventional or surgical therapy recommendation. The outpatient clinic also prescribes the type of conservative strategy in patients that do not require a radical solution yet. It also schedules follow-ups with patients that have already undergone various interventions or when long-term follow-up is important for the patient or Institute. The clinics also provide consultation services that are electively scheduled according to the written or phoned in appointments as necessary. If the outpatient examination indicates the need for patient admission, the patient is hospitalized if it is urgent, or put on a waiting list according to the severity of illness.

The main role of the three cardiologic outpatient clinics is clinical examination, which is according to its result followed by laboratory tests, x-rays and non-invasive cardiologic assessments (transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography, 24-hour ECG and blood pressure Holter monitoring, stress testing, spirometry, spiroergometry, tilt-table testing, vascular ultrasound) as indicated. Within these clinics, time is scheduled for the assessment of potential candidates for heart transplantation and for admission to the Department of Heart Transplantation. Outpatient follow-up and, if necessary, endomyocardial biopsies are also scheduled.
